Khabib Nurmagamedov
Khabib Nurmagomedov is a retired Russian mixed martial artist. He was born on September 20, 1988 in the village of Sildi, in the Tsumadinsky District of the Dagestan ASSR, an autonomous republic within the Russian SFSR, Soviet Union, before moving to the state of Kirovaul, where he later trained in combat sambo and judo. He is best known for his time in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is a former two-time undisputed lightweight champion.
Khabib made his professional MMA debut in 2008 and quickly amassed a record of 8-0 before signing with the Russian-based promotion, ProFC. He won the ProFC welterweight and lightweight championships before signing with the UFC in 2011. He made his UFC debut in January 2012, winning via unanimous decision. He went on to win his next eight fights in the UFC, including a victory over Rafael dos Anjos to win the interim lightweight title in April 2018.
In October 2018, Khabib defeated Conor McGregor to become the undisputed lightweight champion. He defended the title against Poirier in September 2019 and Gaethje in October 2020. He retired in October 2020 with a perfect 29-0 record.
